QuickPick™

The tool has been serving customers from Maximo 3 onwards and now we also serve customers on Maximo 7..It has been endorsed by IBM as a Maximo tool for EAM and TSRM customization and configuration.

QuickPick™ Custom Business Rules, Validation, and Security for Maximo without the need for customized Java Programming

QuickPick helps to add custom business rules, validations and security on the fly based on the SQL clauses. QuickPick is an event driven tool, where you can do complex business procedures in the following scenarios:: -

5) Make fields Readonly at the attribute level - Based on any SQL conditions, you can make fields read-only in Maximo at the attribute level, thereby adding security to your application on the fly.

6) Make fields Readonly at the object level - You can make an entire Maximo object readonly based on SQL conditions.

7) Hide the fields and tabs – You can use QuickPick to hide the fields and tabs in Maximo conditionally thereby protecting your sensitive data.

8) Restrict the data set – You can restrict the dataset returned to a user based on his role and responsibilities. You can limit the records in the lookups also, so that people have access only to the relevant data.  

9) Highlight the fields and labels on your Maximo screen – You can use QuickPick to change the color and format of labels, textboxes and other UI elements in Maximo conditionally thereby highlighting these fields for easy viewing to users.

Simplify Data Lookup in Maximo

Using QuickPick you can create value lists without worrying about domains, table domains etc. Your SQL clause determines the values returned by value list. Some of the salient features of creating value lists using QuickPick are: -

• Can show as many information as you want on the value list.
• Values returned by the value list are determined by your SQL clause, hence can filter the values as per your complex business rules.
• Can create value list to return values based on the data entered in other fields of Maximo.

• Can download the values from value lists in the CSV format.

• Display a location list in Maximo that varies by user to ensure users enter expenses only against authorized account codes.
• Display a list of valid supervisors for a work order based upon the work type or location of the work order.
• Automatically insert an estimated work order completion date in Maximo based upon the specifications of an existing service level agreement.
• Restrict labor and material charges allowed in Maximo to pre-defined budgeted amounts.
• Validate storeroom issues against agreed budgets/GL Accounts to control expenditure.
• Create line item templates to automatically fill in entries in modules such as PO Lines, Job Plan, and WP Operations.
• Track changes to certain fields on a work order with procedural SQL that execute inserts, updates, and deletes on the database.
• Place dynamic restrictions on data fields so that, for example, users cannot view or create work orders against decommissioned locations.

• Highlight the WO Priority and the Failure Class fields on a work order screen if the work type is 'EM'.

QuickPick Administrator

QuickPick Administrator is easy to use and is part of Maximo application. The administrator resides under Maximo Configuration Module.

Features:

• Allows you to switch on or switch off QuickPick as required. Thereby allowing you to run diagnostics on the base Maximo installation.
• Allows you to integrate your rules with Maximo from within the administrator. Thereby saving you a lot of time from rule creation to integration.
• Interactive GUI. Only fields which are mandatory and optional for a rule type are enabled for administrators thereby saving time on rule creation and avoiding human induced errors.

• Duplicate functionality on a rule type, where similar rules can be duplicated hence saving you a lot of time on similar requirements.

Integration with Maximo

QuickPick confirms to all of IBM's development guidelines. QuickPick as a tool has been created using standard Maximo API’s as published by IBM. QuickPick makes use of inheritance in Object Programming World thereby extending the functionality of your core Maximo without interfering in the base Maximo classes. QuickPick is a stable, low overhead tool with robust framework for Maximo customization and is used by thousands of Maximo customers around the globe.

With an ability to switch on and off QuickPick, you can run diagnostics on your base Maximo installation without being worried about any collateral.

In the changing world of Maximo, more often than not you have to or will be considering an upgrade to a new version of Maximo.
