WorkTech Enhances WorkTech Time with Time Clock Input

West Somerville, MA, April 25, 2005 -- WorkTech has extended the functionality of its robust time and attendance software to incorporate time clock entry, naming the enhanced product WorkTech Time 1000. The new product capabilities are targeted at mid sized to large workgroups and organizations with 200 or more employees. With the addition of time clock entry, WorkTech Time 1000 is distinguished by its ability to capture time entry for the simplest to the most complex labor rules. Detailed data records that are automatically captured by WorkTech Time 1000 enable organizations to more easily comply with government regulations. WorkTech Time 1000 with its new time capture features will be unveiled at the American Payroll Association Annual Congress in San Diego California that runs May 1-5, 2005.


WorkTech Time 1000 captures time clock entries with badge-swipe and biometric devices, as well as time entry via web browser on a PC or kiosk. It enforces company and labor union rules that are configured without software programming. Entries that require supervisory sign off such as overtime and leave requests are automatically routed to the appropriate supervisor who can view and approve with a keystroke or can drill down to view detail.


Biometric clocks help organizations enhance corporate security and control "buddy punching" by verifying that the individual who has clocked in or out is the same one who is registered for that code by comparing a finger scan against a data code that represents that finger. The WorkTech Time 1000 finger geometry technology does not actually "read" the fingerprint or compare it to a database of fingerprints, but encodes its characteristics for comparison at the clock; workers do not need to worry that their personal information is being stored.


The time clocks can also be configured to allow workers to charge their time against different jobs or projects during the same day. In many organizations, this type of detailed labor reporting involves manual or duplicative entry of data that is captured by hand or on computers and then re-entered into systems that include payroll, ERP, and asset management. WorkTech Time 1000 eliminates the manual and redundant time entry, saving time and also reducing expensive errors and the processes that correct them.


The American Payroll Association estimates that time entry errors can represent as much as 10% of payroll. Workers frequently catch errors that reduce their pay, but overpayments often go unreported.
